Mike's WEBFISHING Pocket Guide!
A small selection of helpful info to help you catch EVERYTHING. Includes a full fish journal overview, bait / rarity chances and lure explanations.
Introduction
Good morning, and thanks for checking out my guide!
There are a lot of fantastic WEBFISHING guides out there, but I realised I was looking for something simple and easy to read that I could pop on my phone screen as a reference.
To help, I made myself a set of one-page sheets for quick and easy viewing. I've turned them into a little pocket guide because I'm hoping they can be useful to you, too!
Spoilers Ahead!
This is not a comprehensive guide to the game. I've explained a few basics here and there, but this guide mainly exists to help you complete your fishing journal. This means there will be spoilers for the full fish journal, special fish, ranks and titles!
I've tried to make the images as accessible as possible, but if you spot an error or find anything confusing, you're welcome to let me know.
This guide is accurate for version 1.10 - I will update with new information as quickly as possible after each release.
Titles and Badges
flash:wave2: fishing lvls
There are a total of 11 rank-based titles to earn in WEBFISHING. You start out as a Scout, and then unlock a new title and badge every 5 levels. Each title unlock will also change the cool little badge shown when you open your journal, as well as earning you a load of respect from your friends! Probably.
Tip: You can see your rank and XP progress any time by opening your backpack / journal.
Fish Types and Tiers
WEBFISHING is such an emotional game. Even the fish are in tiers!
This might come as a shock, but this game is full of fish. The layout in this image matches the way fish are listed in-game. If you're missing a specific fish, it'll be in the same place here!
Fish are categorised into three different tiers, which you can see above in the cream, green, and blue. The tier is part of the calculation for a fish's value - beyond that, it's simply a classification.
We'll cover bait in a moment - but as long as you're not using worms, you can catch any tier of fish. Worms are the only bait restricted to Tier 1 and Tier 2.
Now that we've explored fish, let's talk bait!
Rarity and Bait
They told me you can get unlimited fish if you eat the worms. So I ate them and waited... with baited breath...
Look! Bait!
WEBFISHING has a total of 6 different baits available to purchase. To buy any bait past Crickets, you'll need to raise your camp tier. You can do so by chatting to the large frog-toad NPC inside the hub building.
Each bait has its own unique chance to catch certain rarities. These rarities will appear as stars at the top left of your screen in the fishing minigame - so if you're about to catch a Glistening fish, you'll see two stars in the corner!
Tip: If you're looking to complete your normal collection in the journal, Crickets are usually the way to go. They have a 95% chance to catch normal fish in all tiers!
The exception is if you're missing fish from exclusively the lower two tiers. If this is the case, it is time for worm. Worms will remove Tier 3 fish from the equation and give you a much better chance of filling your collection.
Finally, we'll take a look at the latest in anti-fish technology.
Lures
The hooks, me bucko! They're back. Beware the hooks!
Lures are quite self-explanatory, but selecting the right lure for your situation can save you a lot of time (and bait) in the long run. I've provided a breakdown of the exact effects each one has. Remember, you can switch your lure at any time by opening the Tacklebox (default hotkey: B).
Tip: The Patient Lure is perfect for AFK fishing while you play another game. The fishing minigame will pop up as usual, but won't start moving until you return to the game and click (or use your fishing hotkey) to begin!
Now that we've got you well on your way to completing your journal, it's time for my favourite part of the guide: the bit where I say "Thanks!" in big blue text.
Thanks!
Thanks again for checking out my little guide!
It's still technically a work in progress, and I'll be sure to add any new sheets I create. If there's anything specific that you'd like me to add... let me know! I'd love to make more if there's interest.
You are welcome to share the images from this guide wherever you wish - all I ask is that you credit me.
